5 Things to Avoid After Lip Filler Injections

To ensure optimal healing and minimise swelling or bruising after lip filler injection, it's important to adhere to proper aftercare guidelines.
Here's what to avoid following your lip filler treatment:
1. Avoid alcohol consumption
Alcohol acts as a blood thinner, so it's best to avoid it after your lip filler treatment. Also, steer clear of blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, and caffeine. Instead, stay hydrated with water to maximize the effects of your lip fillers. No alcohol for at least 24 hours.
2. Stop smoking
If you're a heavy smoker, consider refraining from smoking post-treatment to reduce the risk of skin infection associated with dermal filler injections.
3. Avoid Getting Other Cosmetic Procedures for 2 Weeks
Avoid getting other types of cosmetic treatment on or around your face, such as facials, chemical peels, waxing, microdermabrasion, skin needling, IPL or laser treatment. Make sure to tell your consultant of any upcoming procedures you have planned before getting your lip fillers.
4. Avoid drinking through straws
Drinking through a straw can exert pressure on your newly filled lips, leading to discomfort and swelling.
5. Avoid applying makeup to your lips
Keep lip balm, lip gloss, and lipstick off your lips for the next 24 hours following your lip filler treatment, as makeup products may have adverse reactions to the fillers.
